We are delighted to announce that Katy Rundle will be joining The Fabric of Britain as our official Memory Artist! After her inspiring work in the pilot project, The Fabric of Winchester, Katy’s artistic vision, passion for storytelling, and dedication to community engagement make her the perfect fit for this role.

A Journey from Winchester to Britain

Katy Rundle first captivated our hearts during The Fabric of Winchester, where her talent for weaving personal narratives into beautiful quilt designs transformed the project into a deeply meaningful experience for all involved. Her ability to listen, empathise, and translate stories into art helped to create a tapestry that was not only visually stunning but also rich with the diverse experiences and histories of the Winchester community.

The Role of a Memory Artist

As the Memory Artist for The Fabric of Britain, Katy will be a central figure in our Community Sewing Days. Her role involves more than just artistic direction; she will help participants express their stories and memories through their quilt blocks. Whether it's a piece of fabric from a cherished garment or a design that symbolises a significant moment, Katy will guide contributors in translating their personal narratives into tangible pieces of art.

Why Katy Rundle?

Katy’s approach is both heartfelt and inclusive. She has a unique talent for making everyone feel welcome and valued, ensuring that each contribution, no matter how small, is an integral part of the larger quilt. Her work in Winchester showcased her dedication to capturing the essence of each story, and we are excited to see her bring this same energy and creativity to The Fabric of Britain.

What This Means for The Fabric of Britain

With Katy on board, we are confident that The Fabric of Britain will be a project that truly reflects the heart and soul of our communities. Her expertise will help us create quilts that are not just art pieces, but also powerful symbols of unity, resilience, and shared heritage. Each quilt block will carry the weight of personal histories, woven together into a collective narrative that celebrates our diverse identities.

Looking Ahead

As we embark on this national journey, we look forward to the stories we will uncover and the beautiful quilts we will create with Katy’s guidance. Her previous work has set a high standard, and we are excited to see how she will help shape The Fabric of Britain into a project that touches lives and builds connections across the country.

Please join us in welcoming Katy Rundle to The Fabric of Britain. Her presence will undoubtedly enrich our project, and we can’t wait to see the incredible work she will inspire. Follow our journey on social media and stay tuned for updates on Community Sewing Days, exhibitions, and more.
