Our Work

The Fabric of Winchester

Winchester 2023 (pilot)

The Fabric of Winchester was the very first Fabric of Britain initiative, and was led by St John's Winchester, helping to raise awareness for the charity's Dementia Support service. The project was supported by no fewer than 17 local partners, and saw 400,000 individuals engage across digital, print and social channels and in-person events.

The Gift of Christmas

Mayflower Studios, Southampton, 2025

Commissioned as part of Mayflower Studio's Christmas Community Takeover, we worked with attendees to Caraway's Memory Cafes, making beautiful quilts for display in the MAST Cafe throughout Christmas, and connecting to their production of A Christmas Carol.

The Fabric of Millbrook

Millbrook, Southampton, 2026

Led by the University of Southampton's Institute for Arts and Humanities The Fabric of Millbrook brought community sewing to residents across Southampton's Millbrook.

The project's aims were to nurture social connectedness and build creative skills in participants, celebrating the area for its aspirations and community development.

Our Finest Threads

Stanmore, Winchester, 2026

Working with Winchester's arts and education charity, Play to the Crowd, The Fabric of Britain returned to Winchester for Our Finest Threads, working with the Stanmore community to share memories through quilt blocks.

The final quilts will be exhibited at the Carroll Centre in February 2027.
